Competency – A Critical Focus

The PAR require functions to be performed by “Competent Persons” possessing appropriate training, experience, and agent-specific tertiary qualifications such as Occupational Hygiene, Medicine, or other relevant fields. Use of an unqualified “incompetent” person to conduct Exposure Risk Assessments, Exposure Monitoring, Medical Surveillance, and employee training may constitute non-compliance and expose the employer to enforcement action, prosecution, and statutory penalties.
